A Plethora of Avonleas (A Weekend to ReCOVER)

It's cover comparison time again!  This time the culprit... I mean the subject is the work by Lucy Maud Montgomery Anne of Avonlea.  You may be wondering why not Anne of Green Gables, but since this is Series in September I thought it would be fun to instead focus on the sequel!

Time to choose your favorite!

Do you like the modern or the retro?  Anne alone?  Anne and Diana? Anne and Gilbert?   (I have a soft spot in my heart for the miniseries with Megan Follows so I had to include that one.)  Check out more great - or not so great - Anne of Avonlea covers here and be sure to leave your thougts in the comments below!

The copy I had when I was younger was the the first one on the top left. I think I'll always have a soft spot for those Anne covers. They're nice *and* full of nostalgia! =D

I like the first cover in the second row best, but I think my copy was the first cover in the first row.

I have the cover (or rather I remember having the cover, I don't know if I still own it...) in the top left, Anne walking through the yellow field, so that is still my favourite. I do quite like the one in the 2nd row on the left, her looking wistfully down out of a window.

I have the top left edition, but do prefer the modern, more abstract covers.

As thorough as you've been - I've never seen most of these! - my favorite is not up there. Mine's a Bantam edition paperback with a very old-fashioned cover of Anne sitting on the ground with her shoes off and an open book with a flower in it.

I also have the top left edition, plus one not there that first belonged to an aunt (it's from the 1950s I believe) but I have to say the one I'm most drawn to is the one with Megan Follows and Jonathon Crombie. Probably because his Gilbert is my first crush and I still fall in love with him every time I watch my DVDs. (Not the third movie though, that was a pile of poo!)

Wow! That is a lot of covers! I think the first one might have to be my favorite. I'm not even sure why... maybe because that's the one I've seen the most? None of them really capture Anne's character though. They should put a picture of her breaking her slate over Gilbert's head on the cover! Though that would be more appropriate for book one LOL Love this series!

Have you ever thought about including a little bit more
than just your articles? I mean, what you say is valuable and everything.
However just imagine if you added some great pictures or
video clips to give your posts more, "pop"! Your content is
excellent but with pics and video clips, this blog could
undeniably be one of the most beneficial in its niche.
    Good blog!
