Book Trailers

I'm curious what the general book blogging population thinks about book trailers. Generally, I don't watch a lot of online videos but I certainly see the value of video trailers as a promotional tool for book marketing.  If a picture truly is worth a thousand words, than book trailers might be a more effective means of advertising than simple book summaries.  But again, I'm curious to hear other book bloggers weighing in on the topic - Do you watch book trailers?  Why or why not?

Since I posted my review of Progeny yesterday and will be sharing my interview with R.T. Kaelin tomorrow I thought I would take the chance to share Progeny's book trailer today:

I've only watched one book trailer as far as I can remember. Book trailers just don't interest me yet-- I'd rather read the inside cover synopsis.

I don't watch them at all, and to be honest I find them a little bit tacky. The ones I have watched in the past have put me off the books.

To be honest, I've never watched a book trailer. Of course, part of that might be that one of my computers doesn't have speakers.

I do watch book trailers only if I'm already interested in a book. I like to include it with my book review. I prefer them to be short (a minute or under) and striking. There are some out there that look amateurish or are too long and use the same stock photos that other trailers use. I

I've watched maybe two book trailers, and both of them did not seem to be well done. Maybe I just chose poorly and should give book trailers another chance! Usually, the synopsis of a book and the cover (cliche, right?) is what I go by when picking out a read.

I think it depends on how well done the trailer is. Some just look cheesy and I walk away with a bad impression of the book. And then there are some that are AWESOME. Like the Clockwork Angel trailer? Or the Matched trailer? Basically AMAZEBALLS.
